THE ice might have melted in April but that certainly didn’t mean everything stopped at Ice World in Forfar.

Indeed, it was exactly the opposite.

As soon as the last drop of water was mopped away work started on a major refurbishment of the ice skating rink and viewing areas.

Ice World Skating Club has recognised the need for a modernisation programme for a number of years now and, with the assistance of Forfar Indoor Sports, that has now been achieved.

The ice skating rink has been freshened up with a new bright and welcoming feel to it.

The new Ice World Café Bar has been built in order that spectators can watch the ice-skating in comfort and enjoy a pleasant refreshment at the same time.

Ideal for family and friends to relax and watch everyone skate around the ice.

Ice World is now able to offer skating lessons, with the appointment of Hannah Meldrum as the resident skating coach.

Hannah is a Level 8 skater, a National Ice Skating Association (NISA) Level 2 fully qualified coach and is also a member of the British Ice Teacher’s Association (BITA).

The first day of skating coaching will be Saturday, October 22.

There are a number of classes designed to cater for all ages and abilities, including a Snow Babies class for children aged 18 months to five years, Skate UK which is aimed at five to 16 year olds and adult classes.

For further information contact Hannah at Hannah@forfarindoorsports.co.uk or visit the web-site at www.forfarindoorsports.co.uk

The Ice World Skating Club committee call on all ice stewards, old and new, who want to volunteer their services for the coming season, to make themselves known by contacting Hannah on 01307 468668 or sending an e-mail to Hannah@forfarindoorsports.co.uk confirming contact details and ice-skating and stewarding experience.

The first ice-skating disco will be held on Friday, October 21 at 7.30 pm when the new modern facility, on your doorstep, will be revealed.

With a modern and vibrant facility catering for public and private ice-skating sessions or parties, Ice World Skating Club looks forward to welcoming skaters old and new back to the Suttieside rink.
