Forfar U-14s continue good form

Forfar Boys Under-14s returned from Dundee last Sunday with a comprehensive eight goals to nil victory against Drumgeith.

The Forfar squad was as follows:- Beattie, Millar, Simpson, Crozier, Norrie, Fotheringham, Mitchell, Baillie, Shortridge, Davidson, Edward and Ferrier.

After scoring on his outfield debut against Dundee Celtic two weeks ago, goalkeeper Steven Beattie fired in a second half hat-trick after handing over the gloves to Cameron Millar at half time.

Another hat trick from Fraser Edward and goals from Lewis Ferrier and Adam Davidson secured their second eight nil victory in successive games.

Forfar started well with plenty possession but no end result.

A quick counter attack by the home side nearly caught Forfar napping, but Beattie pulled off a terrific one handed save to keep the score sheet blank.

It wasn’t long before Forfar took the lead when Edward scored with a tap in after the hosts failed to clear a corner kick.

Ferrier then saw his headed effort go over the bar, but minutes later he made it two nil when this time he got his header on target after some great play from Edward inside the box on the left.

Edward also put a header over the bar from a Mitchell corner before Ferrier had a goal disallowed for offside after a great run by Simpson.

Nevertheless, a third goal wasn’t long in coming for Forfar as Davidson lobbed the ball into the net from just inside the box after a Mitchell cross was blocked.

Forfar were then awarded a penalty when Mitchell was fouled in the box, but the home keeper saved Edward’s effort from the spot.

Although the first half was scrappy at times, Forfar fully merited their lead and might have had more than just three goals to show for their good football.

Early in the second half Beattie had the ball in the net, but again the goal was disallowed.

However, it wasn’t long before he did get on the score sheet when he fired home a fourth for Forfar on the rebound after Edward had a shot blocked.

Beattie then made it five when he headed home a Baillie corner as Forfar dominated the game, and Edward got a sixth for when he finished off a great run and cross from Mitchell.

Beattie then had yet another goal disallowed for offside before Edward got his third and Forfar’s seventh when he finished well from a tight angle.

Davidson side-footed the ball straight at the keeper from a Mitchell cross and Edward saw a shot across the face of the goal just shave the far post as Forfar continued to push for more goals.

Baillie hit a dipping shot over the bar and Norrie nearly stabbed a close range effort in at the front post before man of the match Beattie got his third and Forfar’s eighth with neat control and a clinical finish after good set up work by Crozier and Edward.

Another cross from Mitchell on the left was fired just past the front post by Norrie as Forfar has to settle for eight goals in a game which they dominated with some excellent play and good all round effort right through the team.
