He began his footballing career at the age of seven, when he played for the Brechin Boys’ Club Under-9 side.

After four years with the club, he joined Forfar Boys at Under-13 level, before moving to Fairmuir Boys’ Club in Dundee.

Local scouts soon homed in on the talent of the central midfielder, and he was snapped up by Dundee United.

On signing on at Tannadice, Robbie described it as “the best day of my life.”

“I can’t wait to get started,” he commented. “It has always been my goal to try and make a career out of the sport.

“Hopefully I can make an impression at under-17 level and then progress to the Under-19s and ultimately the first team.”
