Two excellent performances

FORFAR Boys Club Under-10s signed off for the summer break with two excellent performances against Arbroath CLC on Sunday.

The boys got off to a fantastic start in the first match when Robbie McLauchlan fired home with six minutes gone after the Arbroath keeper spilled a Cameron Fleming shot.

Robbie Davidson came close to making it two before CLC scored against the run of play in 14 minutes.

The home side made it two three minutes later only for McLauchlan to equalise straight from the kick-off with a well-taken goal.

Arbroath continued the rush of goals by adding a third just on the stroke of half-time.

Forfar came out all with guns blazing in the second period to dominate proceedings and equalised again with 24 minutes played, Daniel Harrison and Fleming combining for McLauchlan to complete his hat-trick.

Fleming made it four with a shot from the edge of the box, while keeper Jamie Noble kept Forfar in the game with a great diving save as CLC started to press.

The Forfar goalie was the hero again when he saved a penalty with four minutes left.

Forfar made it five when McLauchlan fired home a rebound and Davidson completed the scoring with a fine strike from the edge of the box in the final seconds.

Team: Noble, Forbes, Harrison, Fleming, R Davidson, Kelman, McLauchlan. Subs - Tait, Morrison.

Forfar opened the scoring in the second match after nine minutes when a Lewis Davison cross evaded the home defence and Jack Neave was on hand to fire home from inside the box.

Davison came close to making it two before Euan Miller shot narrowly past the woodwork.

Adam Macdairmid almost added to the scoreline as Forfar pressed and it took until the 19th minute before Forfar’s dominance was rewarded when Davison headed home a Neave corner to make it two.

Aaron Morrison and Lewis McSherry tried their luck at goal early in the second half, while Macdairmid’s long-range effort hit the woodwork.

McSherry did make it three on the half-hour mark and it was four just a minute later when Morrison’s cross into the box was hit home by Davison.

Neave made it five in 36 minutes after finding himself in space in the box.

CLC scored a fine consolation goal in the closing stages.

Team: Noble, Short, C Davidson, Miller, Davison, Neave, Macdairmid. Subs - Morrison, McSherry.
