Youngster Paul McLellan might have one of the toughest jobs at Forfar Athletic this season - displacing Gavin Swankie, Dale Hilson and Chris Templeman from the starting 11.

The 19-year-old forward will need to impress Dick Campbell to the extent that the manager sees fit to give him a starting berth ahead of that talented trio, which will be no easy feat, but he has started that task well after some impressive displays in pre-season so far - including a well-taken goal vs Cove Rangers.

The Dundee lad said he is ready for whatever opportunity may come his way, and he’s happy to be learning from such talented players in the meantime.

He said: “Pre-season’s been great, I’ve really enjoyed it. Coming in with the boys is really different to being with the U19s. Playing up top with Chris vs Cove Rangers was great, I learned so much because he’s so experienced at different levels.

“I was happy to get my goal, it’s my first and if I get another chance through the season hopefully I’ll put more away.

“There is a lot of depth up front, so long as I’m working hard and showing what I can do, a chance will come.”
