THERE have been some changes to the playing staff at Forfar Athletic so far in the January transfer window.
This week the club welcomed Gavin Malin, who originally signed for the ‘Loons’ on an amateur form when he moved north from Lancashire in November.
He has now been offered, and agreed to sign, a professional contract until the end of the current season.
The 22-year-old midfield player made his first team debut as a sub in the January 2 fixture against Brechin City and has subsequently been in the starting line up for the Irn Bru League fixtures against Stenhousemuir, Ayr United and Queen of the South.
Meanwhile, some familiar faces have moved on.
Jamie Bishop has been released from his contract and is set to join Third Division side Stirling Albion.
With both his parents originally coming from Forfar it was almost a case of joining his hometown club and he played an integral part in the second half of the 2009/10 season in helping the ‘Loons’ gain promotion.
His appearances over the past 12 months have been restricted due to injury and following discussions with manager Dick Campbell, Jamie decided to move on in the hope of gaining a regular first team berth with the Forthbank club whom he was on loan to just a few weeks back.
He heads off with the best wishes of all at Station Park no doubt including the fans for his footballing future.
Meanwhile, Kevin Motion is moving out of Station Park on a temporary transfer until late February.
He will join East of Scotland League side Spartans.
Motion has not featured in first team competitive action since facing Alloa Athletic in December and this move will allow him to maintain match fitness in the meantime.
