Loons in goalscoring form to win Blue Brazil thriller

Goalscorer Jim Lister was thrilled to see Forfar Athletic finish with a win after a riotous clash with Cowdenbeath on Saturday.

There were goals galore as the Loons rallied back from an early Blue Brazil goal to win 4-3, with Gavin Swankie’s late volley supplying the fantastic winning goal.

Lister was also on the scoresheet alongside Josh Peters and Danny Denholm (whose free kick was the goal of the game and won’t be far away in the seasonal polls come May).

And while the ex-Airdrieonians hitman was chuffed with the three points, he admitted he should have scored even more goals.

Lister said: “It’s good to get the win in the end. It’s great for us to dig it out and for Swanks to put the winner away. We’re all really happy with the three points.

“We could have scored more, and we shouldn’t have conceded as many. That was disappointing, but we played well. We looked good on the ball and looked comfortable.

“I thought I played all right and on another day I should have scored some more goals.

“The Cowdenbeath goalkeeper had some outstanding goals, and I had a good one that came off the underside of the crossbar. I was delighted to get one goal though.”

Jim is having a great time at Station Park and said he’s been made to feel very welcome by the club’s supporters and staff.

He added:

“I’m enjoying it at Forfar, I’m enjoying my football and we’re playing some good stuff. The boys in the dressing room are great and I’ve been made to feel quite welcome by the fans and the committee as well.”
