KIRRIE THISTLE have made a great start to the new season - with two victories in succession in group one of the D. J. Laing League Cup.
Last midweek, the men from Westview got the better of Brechin Vics by the odd goal in three.
Two trialists were on the mark for Thistle, with Colin McNaught netting for Vics.
On Saturday, Kirrie travelled to Coupar Angus and won by three goals to one.
Robbie Black and Sean Taylor had Thistle two goals in front, but Johnny McBride pulled a goal back, before a Darren Neave penalty made the points secure for the visitors.
Forfar West End’s season got off to a poor start, as they crashed six-one away to Carnoustie Panmure in midweek.
Brian Clark scored four for the Gowfers, with Mike McIlravey and Robert Hendry also on target, trialist David Romilly netting a late consolation for West.
Forfar Albion started their season on Saturday, losing by the odd goal in three at Arbroath Vics in group B of the D. J. Laing League Cup.
Mark Fothringham netted both goals for Vics, while Scott Ali was on the mark from the spot for Albion.
The League Cup group action continues on Wednesday evening (tonight) with Kirrie Thistle entertaining Forfar West End (kick-off 7 pm). On Saturday (2.30 kick-offs), Forfar West End are at home to Brechin Vics while Forfar Albion travel to meet Blairgowrie.
