Kirrie out of GA cup

Two goals in the last 10 minutes condemned Kirrie Thistle to a 2-1 loss in the GA Engineering Cup last weekend at home to Parkvale.

The visitors - who now face Blairgowrie in the next round - came out of the traps at a frantic pace, striking the post in the first minute when Scott flicked on a whipped in cross, writes Glen Barclay.

The Aberdeen side threatened once more moments later when their striker turned and fired goalwards but his shot was tipped over by Knox.

He had the ball in the net not long after, but it was chalked off as he was adjudged to be offside.

Scott found the woodwork again, this time from the edge of the box, before it was cleared for a corner.

As the half went on Thistle began to dominate, Muckersie providing the first clear opportunity, rounding the keeper before being angled out of a shot.

From the corner, captain George and Kameni were both denied by brilliant goal line defending.

Thistle had another clear chance before the break but Millar could only screw his left footed effort inches past the post.

Kirrie’s dominance carried on into the second half, Muckersie hitting the first shot of the half goalwards from a free kick but Vale’s keeper cautiously tipped over.

Muckersie was again involved in a Kirrie move and this time it resulted in a goal, Duffy running onto his cutback and firing high into the roof of the net for his first of the season.

Against the run of play and with only 10 minutes remaining Parkvale equalised, Barron making the most of two deflections to fire into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.

Taylor won the game when he nodded past Knox.
