Local community club Forfar Boys FC have been enjoying success in reaching several Cup Finals across the age groups, with 4 on the horizon!
The U14’s are in the Mac Brown Cup Final, the U17’s reached the final of the Queen’s Jubilee Cup, with the U13’s reaching 3 finals, the first of which is the Diamond Jubilee Cup.
Forfar Boys Chairman, Martin Reid, said: “It is a proud moment when any of our teams reach any cup final, let alone having five to look forward to in one season.
"It is testament to the boys' hard work and commitment over several years, not to mention all the team managers, coaches and an army of volunteers who are dedicated to developing the boys football and give up their spare time to make this all possible – congratulations to everyone involved.”
U13’s manager, Mark Kelly, said: “Cup finals were not on our radar last August when we played our first competitive match, our goal was to simply qualify from our group and make the top league, which we achieved undefeated.
"Reaching two finals in our first season is magnificent, almost unbelievable, although the boys’ effort and determination to get there has been unmatched. Currently we are undefeated in all competitions with the exception of the Scottish Cup, therefore every team we play want to beat us and raise their game when they face us. The boys have achieved this through their hard work, dedication and training every week, and have set the bar high for the younger age groups.”
Kev McIntosh, U14s manager, said: "Well done to the boys for this achievement, whether they win or lose we are extremely proud of them. Their dedication and hard work throughout the season will hopefully pay off."
Finally, the U17s manager, Steve McSherry, said: "Congratulations to our boys in getting to their first cup final, all they need to do now is believe in themselves and in each other as a team to bring the cup home to Forfar. It would be a fantastic way to end the season.”
The first of the finals kick off this Sunday, March 19 for the U14s in the Mac Brown Cup Final, with the U13s Diamond Jubilee Cup Final being played on April 16.
The U13s and U17s finals are played on the same day, May 28.
Details of the U13s' third cup final are to be announced.
All games are being held at North End Park in Dundee, all are welcome to come along and cheer on the boys.
