Forfar Farmington picked up full points on a sunny Sunday at Albyn Park with Abbi Grant knocking home the only goal of the game.
Lucy Graham returned to the starting line-up after her international duty with Scotland Under-17s, along with Joanna Collier who replaced sister Gemma, unavailable due to illness.
As has been the case in previous meetings of the sides, the game’s early period was played at a high tempo with both looking to carve out an early advantage.
Julia Scott’s free kick failed to trouble the Hibs’ backline whilst Susan Fairlie fired just over for the home side. Fairlie called Catherine Fitzsimmons into action in the 12th minute when a low shot was well fielded by the Farmington keeper.
Fairlie was denied by Fitzsimmons again four minutes later – her near post shot being pushed away from danger. Although Hibs were carving out the clearer cut of chances, Farmington were enjoying the greater degree of possession.
Abbi Grant’s delicate through ball found Scott who forced a corner. Scott quickly returned the favour when her delivery found Abbi Grant who knocked the ball home from close range.
Hibs goalkeeper Shannon Lynn maintained the score line three minutes later when she denied Abbi Grant her second with a point blank save.
Two minutes later Fitzsimmons pulled off an equally impressive block to deny the ever dangerous Fairlie.
The balance of play shifted towards the home side as the game rolled into the half way break – Fitzsimmons fielding a number of crosses under pressure.
Caroline Weir had the first chance of the second half, but fired past the post under pressure. Farmington rode their luck in the 57th minute when a Smith shot was cleared off the line.
Hibs continued to search for an equaliser but found a Farmington defence in no mood to yield.
Weir was unlucky to see another opportunity sail just wide of target; Siobhan Hunter blasting an effort over the bar soon after.
The visitors could have sealed the game five minutes from time when Nicky Grant unpicked the Hibs defence with a clever run, but pulled her eventual shot wide of target.
Substitutes Katey Turner and Caren Webster combined well a minute later but the latter was unable to keep her sharp strike under the bar.
Both Frankie Brown and Joelle Murray had chances before the final whilst, but Farmington’s defence held firm to secure a hard fought victory.
