Forfar maintain impressive pre-season form

FORFAR Athletic maintained their impressive pre-season form with a four-nil victory at Highland League Huntly on Saturday.

The match was keenly contested by both sides and the Loons went one up within a minute of kick-off, when Ross Campbell was clattered by the home keeper as he tried to finish a cross from the right.

Ian Campbell stepped up to confidently fire the ball home from the spot.

Ross Campbell and trialist Omar Kader both went close as the first half came to an end.

Early in the second half, Chris Templeman put the Loons two up, again from the spot, as Ross Campbell’s header was handled on the line after Michael Bolochoweckyj had seen his headed effort come back off the crossbar.

Forfar scored a third when the home keeper misjudged a through ball and Martyn Fotheringham’s persistence was rewarded with a goal.

Late on Michael Bolochoweckyj headed home to make in four for the Loons.

The result sets Forfar up nicely for what will be a tough start to the new campaign - with cup games on successive Saturdays against first division opposition.

First up is a visit to the town by Dunfermline Athletic in the opening round of the Ramsdens Cup this coming Saturday, with Partick Thistle due at Station Park for the opening round of the Scottish Communities Cup of Saturday, August 4.

Looking forward to the visit of the Pars on Saturday first, the police has advised the club that they wish segregation to be enforced on the terracing.

Looking further ahead, to Saturday, August 4, the club will has hospitality packages available for the Scottish Communities Cup fixture at home to Partick Thistle.

“With only two weeks between the draw and the scheduled date of the fixture, it could be that on his occasion smaller parties than the normal ten required could be fitted in,” adds Mr McGregor.

Any interested parties should, in the first instance, make contact with Mr McGregor on 07871165689 or 01307464924 to discuss their requirements.
