Forfar Boys Under-16s bowed out of the Scottish Cup on Sunday after losing 7-2 away to St John’s of Kirkcaldy.

Forfar took the lead early on when Norrie won the ball at the back before passing to Davidson who found Crozier with a long ball through the middle. The Forfar striker beat the home keeper to the ball and lobbed it into the net.

Midway through the first half St John’s equalised with Urquhart in the Forfar goal, having already made a couple of good stops by being quick off his line.

A free kick by Edward was flicked just wide by Crozier and Norrie saw a long range free kick go past the post as Forfar tried to regain the lead, but it was the home side who went into the break two goals to one in front after scoring a second.

St John’s went three one ahead early in the second half before scoring another two goals as their pace and sharpness in the final third began to pay dividends.

Forfar, to their credit, continued to work hard at their game, with maximum effort being given in all areas of the park, and they deservedly got a second goal when a Watt free kick broke off the defensive wall to Duncan who slotted the ball home from the six yard line.

Forfar conceded another two goals before the end of the game and although the score line suggested a comfortable win for St John’s, the manner in which Forfar went about their game and the attitude they showed against an extremely good side was a credit to themselves and Forfar Boys Football Club.

Man of the match was Kyle Baillie
