Junior outfit Linlithgow Rose claimed the scalp of Forfar Athletic in Tuesday night’s rearranged Scottish Cup replay with a 1-0 win after extra-time.
Kevin Kelbie got the winning goal with five minutes of the added 30 left to play, sending the Super League side into the Fifth Round to face Ross County in Dingwall.
The result means Gary Bollan’s wait for a first victory in the Loons dugout goes on, as does the Angus team’s run of bad results.
It could have been a great start for the hosts though as the returning Michael Dunlop saw a shot ricochet back off the post inside two minutes.
Both sides would have been cursing the woodwork as well as thanking it as Scott Martin rattled the Rose bar with a strike in the 89th minute, with Kelbie and Colin Strickland also hitting the upright.
There were chances for Martin, Iain Campbell and Omar Kader in extra-time but it was Kelbie who had the decisive say, firing low past Darren Hill in the 115th minute to make history for his club.
Bollan is now left with the task of lifting his players’ heads for this weekend’s League One clash at Cowdenbeath.
