Endeavour was the cry from Bryan Hodge after Forfar Athletic succumbed to a 1-0 defeat to derby rivals Brechin City last weekend.

Andy Jackson's second half goal leaves the Loons with just one win in their last nine outings, a record that is far below the standard of this squad's ability.

A rotten run of bad luck with injuries hasn't helped the club's cause of course but Bryan believes the players that aren't on the treatment table need to keep up their hard work off the park in training in mid-week and start bringing it to the field on Saturday afternoons.

Hodge said: "We started okay but at the moment we’re just not playing that great and things aren’t going right, then we’ve got two men sent off. I think you get in that rut but you need to work hard and do some things better.

"It’s another defeat and I think we’ve now only won one in eight which just isn’t like us, especially with the beginning of the season we had.

"We just need to get back to what we were doing at the start of the season and try and get a win. It was poor today but hopefully we can get a win next week against Airdrieonians.

"It’s a second yellow, Derek knew it was a second yellow - it’s a bit silly but we could still do better with the 10 men. Then it’s a perfect time for them to score as well then they kicked on from there.

"The thing is in this league if you go on a bad run you’re all the way down, a good run and you’re right up the top. It might be the case in six weeks we’re back near the top, you don’t know.

"We are working hard and the manager’s working us hard. We’re not doing anything in training differently to the start of the season, but we’ve just not put it on the park for the last five or six weeks. It’s just hard work we need."
