Forfar Athletic will have the honour of being the first team to play promoted side Edinburgh City in this season’s League Two campaign.

City are the first side to be promoted through the Pyramid Play-Offs and the eyes of Scottish football are on them to see how a team from beneath the once-closed shop fares in the SPFL.

But it falls to the Loons to try and spoil Edinburgh’s party at Meadowbank Stadium.

Two of Forfar’s first eight Angus derbies come in successive October gamedays with Montrose visiting Station Park on October 1 and Arbroath hosting the Loons at Gayfield two weeks later, with cup action in between.

The traditional New Year Derby sees Forfar heading 120 miles north to play Elgin City.

And the Loons finish up at home to Annan Athletic on May 6.
