First round victory for Webster’s

LAST Tuesday Webster’s High School senior girls’ football team travelled the short distance to Aberdeen to play their first round Scottish School Shield game against Kincorth Academy.

Just as the game started the weather changed with gale force winds and driving rain making it a fairly miserable experience for all involved.

With the wind on their backs the Webster’s girls cruised to a 3-0 half-time lead.

Lottie Daubel opened the scoring, eventually blasting home from close range after showing great determination.

Webster’s lead was doubled when an Erin Cattanach corner was volleyed home by Katy Dickson.

The first half scoring was completed when Webster’s were awarded a rather fortunate penalty which Amy Doyle calmly converted.

Although the Webster’s girls had dominated the first half they never really reached their usual high standards.

Playing into the wind in the second half allowed Kincorth more possession but the Webster’s rear guard never looked like being breached.

Doyle doubled her tally minutes from the end with a well taken header from another Cattanach corner.

With the clock ticking down Kincorth managed to score a consolation goal.

A fairly lacklustre performance from the Webster’s girls. Best on the day were Corryne Dryden and Emily Rennie.
