Gary Bollan was left bitterly disappointed after his side squandered a 2-1 lead at Peterhead on Saturday.
Forfar Athletic were playing against 10 men for a long period but Jim McInally’s Blue Toon are on scorching form, and punished the Loons with goals from Shane Sutherland and Leighton McIntosh.
Bollan knows though that the players at his disposal do have the qualities needed to start winning games - something they have to do sooner rather than later.
Gary said: ““It was very frustrating and we’re bitterly disappointed. I’m unhappy with the way we played in the second half and it’s a huge disappointment to lose the game, especially playing against 10 men yet again.
“They’re the form team at the moment, they’re riding the crest of a wave and flying high.
“It was always going to be tough but when you get yourself in front then you’re playing against 10 men, you’re hoping to hang on and win the victory we need at the moment.
“Unfortunately we never got it but we’ve still got players in there who on their day can perform and win games, and we need to start doing that as soon as possible.
“That’s why we brought Steven and Andy to the club, they’ve both good pedigrees - Steven has played at a high level for a long time, Andy’s younger but has also played a high level.
“That’s the type of player we’re trying to attract to the club to help us out until the end of the season and improve on the quality we’ve got there.
“Steven is wise and experienced and Andy’s young and fresh, we’re hoping that between now and the end of the season they can gel together and continue to get on the scoresheet.
“It’s another stern test but every game at the moment is a stern test, to be honest.
“We’re more than capable of going down to Ayr this Saturday and putting in a performance and getting the result.
