Gary Bollan looked to bolster Forfar Athletic’s defence on Transfer Deadline as he brought two youngsters to the club.

Euan Spark arrived at Station Park on loan from Dundee United while Gareth Rodger agreed a contact until the end of the season after his release from St Johnstone.

Following the departure of Kevin Nicoll - who has since joined Annan Athletic in League Two - and a bad injury sustained by Michael Travis, the defence was an area of the park in obvious need of strengthening.

Michael Dunlop’s impressive return from injury will have pleased Bollan but nonetheless, these two acquisitions were very much needed.

The Loons were set to visit Cowdenbeath on Saturday but bad weather put paid to the fixture.

This Saturday sees Forfar host Stranraer, who are in fine form with four wins out of five including a 2-0 win over bottom side Brechin City.

A defeat to the Blues would see the Wigtownshire club pull further away from the bottom rungs of the League One table and leave the Loons further entrenched in the mire of a relegation fight.
