Forfar Boys Club chairman Barry Quinn is thrilled that the youth teams have seen such significant development in the last year.
The club enjoyed a terrific Annual General Meeting and Fun Day on Sunday and Barry was pleased to welcome Forfar Athletic goalkeeper Rab Douglas who presented the youngsters with their trophies at Strathmore Rugby Club.
Barry told the Dispatch: “I am delighted at the progress we have made this past 12 months as a club, our seven-a-side teams have continued to develop with an 80 per cent win rate and steady increase in numbers across all the younger age groups. Our 11-a-side teams have been phenomenal all season, especially with our U14s and U15s both getting to league cup finals, the U14s came out winners which was a great achievement for them and the club, our U15s were runners up in the cup and the league.
“We are striving to develop further at our younger age groups, the fun fours continues to thrive but we are about to announce a new mini kickers program for four and five years which we are excited about and means we have player pathways from four years old right through to any level of adult football. We also achieved the SFA Development Quality Mark Award this year which is a huge achievement and is a clear indicator of our ambitions to continue to expand and develop football in Forfar and the surrounding areas. Our links with Forfar Albion have never been stronger under the community club we formed together and we continue to work with Forfar Athletic and their youth teams. Overall we have had a great year but have tough times ahead with the lack of facilities in the area for a club of our size.”
