It was quite the surprise for the Forfar Albion lads when former Scotland international Gavin Rae turned up for their first pre-season friendly against Aberdeen East End last weekend.
The former Rangers, Cardiff City and Dundee midfielder started the game alongside player-manager Steven Milne - the duo remaining friends ever since their early days at Dundee.
The cameo was a great experience for the players in the Albion side who would have learned a great deal from the experienced professional before he heads out to Australia.
But the experienced pair of Rae and Milne were unable to help Forfar to victory as they were defeated 1-0 by their Aberdeen counterparts.
It was another defeat for Milne’s charges on Saturday when they went down 3-0 at home to Tayport.
Next up for the boys was a trip to Montrose Roselea last night (Tuesday, July 29) - we’ll have the result on our social media channels as well as next week’s edition.
