Forfar Boys U14’s saw off Dundee Celtic with an excellent eight goals to nil away victory on Sunday past.
The Forfar squad was Beattie, Millar, Simpson, Norrie, Crozier, Roy, Ferrier, Baillie, Shortridge, Davidson, Mitchell and Edward.
Forfar started well and took the lead when Ferrier played a nice pass down the left to Mitchell who squared the ball for Edward to score at the second attempt after his first effort was blocked.
Mitchell made it two nil when he netted from a tight angle on the left after making a great run into the box from a Simpson pass.
Forfar were dangerous going forward and they kept the Celtic keeper busy as he had to deal with good efforts from both Mitchell and Edward as Forfar pressed from both flanks and through the middle.
With Forfar dominating the play Davidson was fouled as he attacked down the right and a penalty was awarded, however Mitchell was denied from the spot by the home keeper.
Simpson fired a left foot effort over the bar from distance before Mitchell had a good shout for another penalty when he was impeded when trying to shoot in front of goal, but there was no award so the score remained at two when the half-time whistle went.
Forfar continued their sparkling form into the second half and Mitchell made it three with a left foot finish after a great run down the right from Davidson.
Man-of-the match Mitchell completed his hat-trick with a tidy finish from a neat Beattie pass to make it four nil.
Beattie then got on the score-sheet to make it five with a turn and finish from the edge of the box after receiving a pass from Edward.Shortridge then had a shot on goal blocked and Edward hit the side netting after a pass from Mitchell as Forfar out played their hosts with excellent effort and application from all areas of the park.
The sixth goal came when Davidson’s low strike across the face of goal was deflected into the net by a home defender and it was soon seven when Baillie played in Edward to score his second goal of the game from the edge of the box.
Davidson made it eight with a superb dink over the keeper from twelve yards after a good run and pass from Mitchell.
