FORFAR Academy pupils Jason Bedford and Beth Harrison spent the last weekend of their summer holidays representing St Thomas at the Fins Graded Meet in Kirkcaldy.
This was the first meet of the new swimming season for the swimmers and therefore represented an excellent opportunity to gauge how well their training went during the summer break.

Jason and Beth competed with a team of seven other St Thomas swi
mmers which saw a medal haul of seven gold, six silver, four bronze and four too fast marble plaques.

Both Jason and Beth were competing in the 14 and over age groups.

Jason won gold in the 100m individual medley (IM) in a time of 1.16.77. This also represented a new personal best time as Jason improved on his entry time by a massive 12 seconds.

In the 100m breaststroke heats Jason set a new personal best time of 1.23.31 but in the final Jason bettered that time further. His final time of 1.22.59 won him the silver medal.

In the 100m freestyle Jason once again recorded a new personal best time of 1.09.68; this was a five second improvement on his entry time.

Beth came third in the 50m backstroke; her heat time of 38.57 represented a 1.5 second personal best.

Beth also recorded a new personal best time in her 50m butterfly event while, in the 100m butterfly, Beth's swim was a seven second improvement and although she was extremely nervous beforehand she swam superbly to come home tenth overall.

Beth also came tenth in the 100m backstroke and 12th in the 50m freestyle.
