STRATHMORE Cricket Club's first team was edged out of the SCU Trophy in a rain-hit match against Glasgow Accies, played at Dalnacraig in Dundee on Sunday afternoon.
On a tricky wicket, Strathie had first go at batting, and, after a steady enough start, began to lose wickets steadily.

Matty Simpson steadied the ship with a score of 30 as the men from Lochside put on 35 for the loss of the first two wickets, but they began to struggle and were soon 87 for seven.

Dale Sweeney aided a partial recovery late on, to make a 137 all out total - and give the Strathie bowlers something to work with.

And, things looked good when Andy Cooper made the early break-through.

With Glasgow Accies struggling to get the ball away, things took a twist when the heavens opened and forced the teams to race for shelter.

There was a break of 45 minutes before play was able to continue, although the rain-sodden surface made things very tricky indeed for the bowlers.

Still, things continued to look good for Strathie as they reduced the men from the west to 46 for five.

Alas, slowly but surely, Glasgow knocked off the runs and they got home with a couple of overs to spare.

Strathie's first team will hope to bounce back this coming Saturday, then they entertain Stoneywood Dyce in a league encounter.

Loyal supporter, Forfar joiner Willie Barker, will be marking 25 years of first team sponsorship, when he backs Saturday's game, and, following the on-field action there will be a disco for members and guests in the evening.
