THE Forfar Athletic build-up to the new campaign continues, with the current playing squad of 13 being put through their paces ahead of the opening pre-season friendly game a week on Saturday (July 12).
Manager Dick Campbell, just back from holiday, is looking to put together a squad of 21 prior to the opening competitive game of the 2008-2009 season - and is not being panicked into making rash decisions.

His priorities include a goalkeeper and a striker and he hopes to have a couple of new faces in before the end of the week.

"It is important not to panic into making signings at this stage," Campbell explained on Monday. "I want to get the right type of player in and I am pretty close to adding two or three new players to the squad.

"I plan to operate with a squad of 21 players, and that could include some loan signings."

In addition to the playing staff, Dick is keep to firm up on his backroom staff and is looking to get down to business again, after a pre-arranged two-week break abroad.

The first of the pre-season friendly matches is just round the corner, with Buckie Thistle at Station Park on Saturday, July 12.

Second-division near-neighbours Brechin City will be at Forfar on Tuesday, July 15, with a Hibs reserve side to be entertained two evenings later, on Thursday, July 17.

Forfar then travel to take on Inverurie Locos on Saturday, July 19, with East Fife at Station Park on Tuesday, July 22, ahead of the trip to meet Arbroath in the opening round of the Challenge Cup on Saturday, July 26.

Admission prices for the four home pre-season friendlies have been reduced to £6 for adults and £3 for children and OAPs.

Season tickets went on sale on Saturday morning, and will again be available for purchase this coming Saturday between 10 am and 11 am and on Monday evening between 7 pm and 7.30 pm.
