It was confirmed on Wednesday (today) that striker Johnny Russell has joined Forfar Athletic from Dundee United on loan until the end of the year.
The promising 18-year-old is the latest young United prospect to be loaned out by Craig Levein to gain much-needed first-team experience.

This will come as good news to Loons boss Dick Campbell who has seen his troops struggle in recent games to find the back of the net.

Johnny was born in Glasgow and has been with United from under-13 level.

After scoring 62 goals in the club's youth development system, the striker signed professionally in February 2007, quickly establishing himself as first choice youth team player then becoming a fixture in the reserve side.

This was soon followed by his debut for the senior side in an SPL game against Falkirk when he came off the bench. From there he has been involved with the first-team squad on a consistant basis.

In April of this year he made his debut for the Scotland under-19 side, coming on as a substitute in a 5-1 win over Denmark.

While still only 18, Johnny brings an impressive CV with him to Station Park and Dick Campbell will hope to utilise the player's potential as much as possible in his time at Forfar.
