FORFAR Farmington Football Club will staging an open fun day next Wednesday (July 8) for girls aged ten to 18 (primary six to sixth year) in the area to come along and learn more about the fastest growing sport in the world.
The open fun day, being run in partnership with Angus Council's activeschools team, forms what is hoped will become the first in a series of community focused events, with the emphasis on the day being on fun and participation with everyone welcome r
egardless of their football experience.
Taking place at Farmington's training facility on the Market Muir in Forfar, sessions will run from 10 am to 12 noon and from 1 pm to 3 pm.
Cost per session is £2 per person, or £3 for both sessions.
Coaches from Farmington's various sides will be running the sessions, with additional support from a number of the club's senior players, including Scotland Under-19 internationalist Gemma Collier and Scottish Women's Premier League regulars Emma Percy and Caroline Heron.
Speaking in advance of the event, Mark Nisbet, head coach of Farmington's SWPL side and co-organiser of the event said: "The fun open day is an ideal opportunity for girls in the area to keep themselves active during the summer months, and increase their knowledge of football in a fun and relaxing environment.
"Forfar Farmington is delighted to be running the event in partnership with activeschools, who have been phenomenally supportive and equally as enthusiastic about getting girls in the area participating in football.
"As a community club we're delighted to be able to offer this fun day to girls throughout Angus who will, hopefully, then go on to continue their interest in football in the months and years ahead."
