DUELL DEPARTS AS TWO GIBSONS JOIN THE LOONS

THE transfer window closed on Monday evening at midnight, with Forfar failing to add any more players to their squad.
A late bid by the Loons' boss to secure a central defender from a second division club failed to materialise, but, having secured a back-up keeper and another striker in the course of the past week, Dick Campbell won't be too unhappy.
And he can always fall back on loan deals outwith the transfer window if he feel he needs to bolster the squad, which now stands at 23, Bryan Duell having accepted a free transfer on Monday evening.
Forfar's two latest acquisitions go by the name of Gibson, John a goalkeeper, who is on loan from Dundee United until the end of the year and Graham, a 28-year-old striker, who has been released by Stenhousemuir.
Gibson featured for the Loons on Saturday past when he came off the substitutes' bench as a trialist at Berwick Rangers and secured a share of the spoils with his late leveller.
He has joined up at Station Park on a one-year deal, further strengthening Campbell's attacking options following the earlier capture of young Johnny Russell on loan from Dundee United until the end of the year.
The 18-year-old, who scored a brace for the Loons in his debut at Cliftonhill, is out of the country on international duty later this week, travelling to Holland as part of the Scotland Under-19 set-up.
Meanwhile, with the soccer focus on international matches for the next week or so, Forfar have a break, before they resume their league campaign at home to Montrose on Saturday, September 13.
Campbell will use the time to further gel his charges in the wake of recent acquisitions, with a closed doors match at East Fife pencilled in for Thursday evening and plans to hold another closed doors match next midweek, in the buiild-up to the first league derby joust of 2008-2009.
Forfar Athletic will be keen to get their home season up and running after two rather unlucky one-nil reverses, against Cowdenbeath and Elgin City on successive Saturdays.
In contrast, the Loons are going great guns on their travels, the point picked up in the two-all draw at Berwick Rangers on Saturday taking the haul on the road to seven from a possible nine.
That run sees Forfar well placed in fourth spot in the Scottish third division, four points adrift of pace-setters Stenhousemuir.
Saturday's match just across the border featured three spot-kicks, two for the home side, converted by a former Loon, and one for Forfar.
It was Dick Campbell's side who drew first blood, Kevin McLeish hitting home from the penalty spot in 21 minutes after Johnny Russell had been upended in the box.
But back came the home side to level in 43 minutes, former Loon Darren Gribben netting after David Dunn was judged to have upended Jamie Ewart in the area.
Berwick took the lead on the hour mark when Gribben again netted from the spot, this time after Craig Anderson had been felled in the area.
But Forfar weren't finished and they secured a draw eleven minutes from time when Graham Gibson marked his debut (as a trialist, as his registration hadn't been registered by kick-off) rounded the home keeper to net.
Berwick Rangers - McGurk, Guy, Lennox, Ewart, McLean, Bonar, McLaren, Craig Anderson (Callaghan), Gribben, Lister (Grant) and Greenhill.
Forfar Athletic - Brown, McNally, Smith, Dunn, Tulloch, Winter (Trialist), McLeish, Brady, Lilley, Russell (Campbell) and Kilgannon (Fotheringham).
