THE 45th annual Forfar Open Bowling Tournament came to a conclusion on Saturday evening, after a week of competitive action played in changeable weather.
The final stages, this year, were held at the Forfar green, with last year's runner-up, Phillip Nicoll from Brechin, defeating Canmore's Brian Thomson in the final, by 21 shots to eleven.
By virtue of getting to the final, Brian picked up the Scott Ramsay Trophy which is presented to the local bowler going furthest in the competition.
The beaten semi-finalists were J. Quinn, who lost by 21 shots to 2 against Phillip Nicoll, and M. Daun, who went down by 21 shots to 20 in a closely contested game against Brian Thomson.
The pairs champs were John Strachan and Romano Biondi of Longforgan, who defeated David Nicoll and John Darcy of Dudhope by 20 shots to nine in the final.
The beaten semi-finalists were two Canmore pairs, Dave Stephen/Craig McFarlane and Bill and Clune Stewart.
At the presentation of awards held at the Forfar club on the Saturday evening, the trophies were presented by Ashley Edmonds.
It was a final night in the organising field for two long standing tournament committee members.
Derek Neave is standing down after 29 years on the committee, having served in a number of capacities, including twice as convener, while Alec Campbell is also calling it a day as tournament secretary.
