A Forfar woman's 40th birthday celebrations have resulted in four cheque presentations which have encompassed a wide spectrum of organisations covering all ages and circumstances.
Susan Forbes celebrated her milestone birthday with a party for family and friends in the Royal British Legion last month.

But instead of presents she asked for donations - and was delighted when the sum of £785 was received.

Susan wanted to put the money to good use and chose four recipients to reflect all aspects of the local and even the international community.

As a result she presented three cheques last Tuesday, with £285 being donated to Lippen Care, £100 to the Lowson Memorial Church's Pensioners' Club, and £300 was donated to Angus Presbytery which has gone towards the purchase of a tent which has been sent to China.

A further £100 is to be donated to the Wendyhouse Nursery's breakfast club at Whitehills Primary School.

With the cheques distributed, Susan is turning her attention to a second fundraiser which she has organised.

It is a strawberry tea this Sunday (June 22) at the Strathmore Rugby Club in Forfar from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. to raise funds for Breast Cancer Care.

Tickets are £3 which includes tea and coffee kindly supplied and served by Starbucks Coffee House, and homemade scones, cream meringues and fresh local strawberries.

There will also be sales tables which will include home baking, hand-made jewellery and Nirvana accessories.
