A RESIDENT of the Storyville House Residential Home in Kirriemuir, who celebrated her 100th birthday in March, has died.
Mrs Ethel McMillan celebrated her big day with family members on March 17.

She was joined by relatives from Broughty Ferry, Arbroath and Milnathort as well as relatives form Buckinghamshire and Liverpool.

Born in Baxter Park Terrace in Dundee, Ethel attended Morgan Academy in her formative years, moving with her parents and three sisters to Aberdeen.

The family returned to Dundee where Ethel finished her schooling at Harris Academy.

The family moved to Glasgow when Ethel began working in a shoe shop in the city.

She married her first husband, David Cowan, and the couple emigrated to Australia.

They had one daughter, Pam, and returned to Broughty Ferry.

David died in 1971 and Ethel went on to marry Captain George McMillan in 1977.

Captain McMillan died in 1994 and Ethel moved to Storyville House in 2002.
