THE latest in a long series of reciprocal visits involving the twinning associations of Forfar and Chabanais is underway.
A group from the French town arrived in the town on Tuesday (today), being greeted by hosts at Forfar Academy.

The visitors are being hosted by families throughout the Forfar area, with a full programme of trips and activities planned by members of the local twinning association.

Fingers are crossed for good weather, but an alternative programme is on the back-burner in case it turns wet!

An outing to the new Forfar Guide Dog Centre in Orchardbank Industrial Park was planned for Tuesday afternoon.

On Wednesday, the outings will take the French visitors to Meigle Museum, with fruit picking and a picnic at McLaren's fruit farm planned for the afternoon, followed by a barbecue.

On Thursday, the destination will be Glasgow, with high tea at the Red House Hotel in Coupar Angus on the way home.

There will be the chance for shopping in Forfar town centre on Friday morning, together with an opportunity to meet Angus Provost Ruth Leslie-Melville, the party then Arbroath-bound for the afternoon.

The attractions of nearby Glamis are on the itinerary for Saturday, a tour of Glamis Castle being followed by a picnic in the grounds and a visit to Glamis Church, while there will be a ceilidh in the Northmuir Hall, Kirriemuir, in the evening.

There will be an opportunity to relax with the host families on Sunday, and, on Monday of next week, a day before departure for the return trip to Chabanais, there will be an outing north to the Edradour Distillery, followed by lunch and shopping in Pitlochry.
