A Glamis woman, who is in training for a gruelling cycle run through India later this year, has been delighted with the support her charity shop in Forfar received.
Fiona Young (41), a care worker at a home for the elderly in Meigle, is well on track for raising over £2,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Her fund-raising took a huge boost two weeks ago when she ran a charity shop in Castle Street, which raise
d £1850.
The minimum Fiona had to raise was £1100 and she is confident her total will pass the £2,000 mark.
She had organised a couple of fund-raisers prior to the shop and thanks everyone who has supported her in her efforts to date.
She said: "Everyone has been fantastic. People handed in donations to the shop and we had customers who came back two or three times.
"I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated items and cash, to those who bought items and all my supporters who helped man the shop."
Fiona's next fund-raiser is a bingo tea which will be held in the Forfar branch of the Royal British Legion on Friday, September 19 - eyes down 7.30 p.m.
And whilst she continues with her fund-raising, she is also turning her attention to some serious training to prepare her for her 250-mile cycle run in India which begins on November 2.
A keen cyclist, Fiona is working on her distance as she has two days when she will have to complete 45 miles, back to back.
Her trip starts at the Taj Mahal and will be over five days along the Delhi trail, finishing in Pushkar.
She is driven in her determination to raise as much money as possible for Macmillan Cancer Support after losing her mum to cancer seven years ago.
