THE efforts of a trio of cycling friends have resulted in bumper cheques being presented to two charities.
Morag Wallace, from Whitelums, near Kirriemuir, and Aloma and Phil Nicol from Forfar, were among the huge field participating in this year's Etape Caledonia cycling challenge across closed roads in Highland Perthshire.

For fitness instructor Morag it was her second go at the event and she raised £543.50 for the SSPCA, which she presented to Mark Lumgair.

The Nicols, who attend Morag's class at Forfar Lochside Leisure Centre, raised £582 for the town's hospice charity Lippen Care, the cheque accepted by Catherine McEwen.

The cyclists had shirt sponsorship from Morag's husband, Douglas, though his Wallace Joinery firm.
