A team of Zumba dancers have joined together to raise money for cancer.
The group of 15 ladies who all attend Zumba classes at Webster’s Sport Centre in Kirriemuir have created a team to take part in the 24 hour Cancer Research UK’s Relay for Life on August 13 and 14,
To help kick-start the fund-raising the ladies have organised a Zumba party and disco night for Friday, May 6 at Kirriemuir Town Hall from 7.30 pm to 11.30 pm.
Tickets for the night cost £7, with party goes taking drink and nibbles with them.
On the evening there will also be a raffle and the person with the lucky door ticket will win a Zumba top.
All abilities of Zumba dancer are invited to attend the evening which will let people from beginners to experts the chance to learn some new dance moves.
Relay for Life team member Heather Kelly said: “The team all met at Zumba classes at Webster’s Sports Centre and we decided that we wanted to have a team for the Relay for Life.
“The money goes to Cancer Research UK and is used to help all types of cancer. This is why we decided to do this event as it does not raise funds of just one type of cancer.
“Everyone in the team has been affected by cancer, either themselves or have had family or friends who have survived or died from cancer.
“It is something that is very close to us and we would like to do our bit to help.”
Tickets are available from Zumba instructor, Moira Miller, at her classes at the Webster Sports Centre on a Monday from 6 pm to 7 pm, Wednesday 8 pm to 9 pm, Thursday (in the Town Hall) 9.30 am to 10.30 am and Sunday 6 pm to 7 pm or by telephoning Heather Kelly on 01575 574796.
