The organisers of a charity fund-raiser ruined by torrential rain at the weekend have rescheduled the event for next month.
‘Scotland’s Americana’ should have gone ahead on Saturday to raise money for local equine charity SaddleUp Ranch, but organisers were forced to cancel after the showfield at Padanaram became waterlogged.
Organised specifically for the Fourth of July, the event offered a unique family day out with western riding displays, classic American cars and motorcycles, bands and trade stands.
But undaunted by the experience, its organisers this week said advance ticket sales will be honoured with a new event on Sunday, August 9, at Padanaram from 10am onwards.
Jessie Jean Probst, one of the charity’s founders, said that while there was disappointment that it had to be called off, the organising team has been buoyed up by the support it has received.
She said: “It looked like it was set to be a success. A lot of people turned up to see what was going on but we lost a lot of the stands and the bands.
“People have been so supportive; some have been telling us to keep their ticket money as a donation and the performers and trade stands have said they want to come back which has helped to keep our morale up. We also learned a lot because this was our first major event and it will be bigger and better next time.”
