Volunteer for Guide Dogs

Guide Dogs are looking for volunteers in the Forfar area to take on a brand new volunteering opportunity in their local training school.

The new role involves supporting the local mobility team, welcoming volunteer boarders when they arrive to drop off and pick up dogs which are in the final stages of training. Key times are 8-9am and 5-6:pm Monday-Friday. The volunteers will play a key part of the team, supporting a new way of working.

Emma Murton, Volunteer Development Co-ordinator said: “The lifetime cost of a guide dog from birth to retirement is nearly £50,000 and we currently have approximately 500 guide dog partnerships in Scotland, 4500 in the UK. Guide Dogs receive no government or statutory funding so we rely entirely on the generosity of the public to provide a service that makes a massive difference to the lives of blind and partial sighted people. Volunteering means you’ll join a friendly team; learn some new skills through training given for the role, meet new people as well getting to know some of our very special four legged friends.”
