LOCAL woman Gill Ramsay, her husband Michael and their friend Kathy Upton, are gearing up to take on one of the UK’s toughest challenges - cycling from Land’s End to John o’Groats.
Inspired by a trip they took last year where they spent four days cycling the breadth of Scotland, they wanted to take on a much bigger challenge this year.
They will undertake the entire journey without any support vehicle while hoping to make between 80 and 100 miles each day.
Starting on Sunday, July 1, they are hoping to reach their final destination on Wednesday, July 11.
Alongside the physical challenge of the trip, the trio are hoping to raise funds for Radio Tay’s Caring for Kids charity.
As part of the fundraising effort they have organised an evening of entertainment at The Plough Inn, Forfar for June 1.
Live band ‘The Bygones’ will kick start the evening before a disco to round off the night. A buffet will be available and there are hopes to run a raffle.
The night costs just £5 per person and you can e-mail Gill at firstname.lastname@example.org to get a ticket.
Donations for the raffle will also be gratefully accepted.
You can also donate to the cause on their JustGiving page - www.justgiving.com/Gillian-Ramsay.
