DD8 Music has announced that the tickets for Bonfest 2014 are now on sale via the online ticket agent Ticketweb.
Ticket prices have gone up for this year and are set at £19.12 for each night and each night will be sold individually.
The festival will host some big names this year and headline acts for the three nights of the festival will be Back:n:Black on Friday, August 15; The Bon Scott Revival Show on Saturday, August 16 and The Chris Slade Timeline on Sunday, August 17.
A DD8 Music spokesman said: “The £19.12 price includes £2.12 processing fees from Ticketweb that we have no control over.
“We have had to raise our ticket price to £17 this year though, up from last year’s £15. This is due to the council dropping the capacity of the town hall by 60 people due to fire regulations.
“This also unfortunately means that there will be less tickets available in total.
“As the festival has sold out for the past four years we would strongly advise buying your tickets as soon as possible.”
Tickets will also be available to buy locally from the Kirriemuir Art Gallery on Reform Street soon. The ticket price from there will be the basic £17 per night.
The spokesman continued: “We would like to apologise for the increase in price.
“Bonfest is not run as a money-making event, and all the organisers are volunteers.
“The reason tickets have been so late going on sale is that we have been trying every means possible to keep the ticket prices as low as possible.
“We think we’ve got an incredible line-up for you this year, that we hope you’ll agree is worth the money.”
The annual festival celebrating the music of AC/DC legend Bon Scott kicks off on Friday, August 15 with the incredible all girl tribute Back:N:Black. Every girl in the band is a top-notch musician—and a hardcore AC/DC fan, always belting out the classic AC/DC repertoire with blistering conviction, high energy and theatrical surprises.
On Saturday, August 16, Kirriemuir welcomes Spain’s greatest tribute to AC/DC - The Bon Scott Revival Show.
Playing a set of the classic ’73-’79 band line up this band sounds and looks just like the real thing, playing with a passion and energy that is sure to get Kirrie Town Hall jumping!
Playing on Sunday, August 17, the festival organisers have secured the incredible Mr Thunderstruck himself, Chris Slade!
Chris has had an amazing career as a rock drummer, playing with a who’s who list of musical greats; from Tom Jones, Manfred Mann’s Earth Band, Uriah Heap, Frankie Miller, Gary Moore, Jimmy Page, Asia and many more.
Of course, Chris was also the drummer for AC/DC for five years playing on ‘The Razors Edge’ album, ‘Live from Donnington’ DVD and at the record breaking ‘Monsters of Rock’ gig in Moscow in 1991 to a crowd of over 1.6 million people.
Meanwhile DD8 Music has revealed the latest on the plans for a Bon Scott statue that is to be placed in Kirriemuir.
While committee members had hoped for the statue to be ready for this year’s Bonfest it will now be part of the wider regeneration of Kirriemuir and so the date has been pushed back to 2015. A message on the statue Facebook page said: “It means that the statue will be unveiled in the year that marks the 35th anniversary of Bon’s death, and we can honour his memory in style.”
