The Hub to open for National Recovery Day

A NEW facility for vulnerable members of the community run at the East and Old Parish Church is opening up specially on Saturday as part of National Recovery Day.

The day is being held for those coping with substance misuse and the doors at The Hub, which normally runs on a Monday, will open up for those in need.

Events are being held across Scotland as part of the national day and in Forfar The Hub will open from 11.30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

As usual, a bowl of home made soup will be served, free of charge for those in need, along with tea, coffee and biscuits.

Those attending meet in the choir room in the church and facilities are available for those with children.

The Hub has been running for five weeks now and is there for those dealing with substance misuse, depression or feelings of isolation and being excluded.

Those involved with The Hub researched similar projects in Dundee and Angus and have worked closely with Tayside Police’s community liaison officers. Those involved in the project have received training from Constable Ally Smith.

Anyone trying to cope with substance misuse will receive a warm welcome on Saturday, or at the weekly Monday sessions.
