TEAMS are already training hard in preparation for this year’s Kirriemuir Splash event.
Now in its 22nd year, the annual relay swim takes place on September 24 and has an ambitious target of raising £10,000.
The organisers hope for an entry of 40 teams, bringing together a total of 320 enthusiastic aquatic stars of all ages. Participants swim for as far as their skill permits over the course of a 25 minute session.
All community teams are elegible to enter Splash and forms are available wherever you see a Splash poster or by calling the Glens and Old Parish Office on 01575 572819.
The charities selected to benefit from this year’s Splash Funds include Erskine Hospital, Mission to Seafarers, Macmillan Cancer Local committee, Special Olympics (Scotland), Rotary Bosnia Fund, Operation San Andres Peru and Womandeliver Worldwide.
Splash money buys medicines, tools, books, clothing, food and accomodation bringing life changing results to those who need it most.
Organised by volunteers from Kirriemuir churches the Splash events have raised over £130,000. Each year support has grown steadily and is now one of the biggest local community efforts involving many schools, organisations and clubs.
