Team target makes relay the biggest yet

Organisers of Kirriemuir’s Relay for Life have welcomed their 50th team to this year’s event-officially making it the biggest yet.

But there is still space to accommodate more teams in the 24-hour fund-raiser, in aid of Cancer Research UK, which can register up to August 5. The relay itself takes place on August 15 and 16

Teams have between 8 and 15 people who take it in turns to walk round a track on Kirrie show field, while those not walking soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the non-stop entertainment.

Fiona Smith, from last year’s ‘Pink Ladies’ team, said: “I have been a team captain since it started in 2007 and it really is a wonderful event. As well as raising awareness of cancer and money for Cancer Research UK, a charity very close to my family’s heart, it brings the community of Kirriemuir together and also welcomes teams from further afield.”
