The magnificent setting of Glamis Castle drew in the crowds on Sunday as the 11th Strathmore Highland Games played out in glorious sunshine.

The skirl of the pipes intermingled with a colourful spectacle of track events, heavy events and Highland dancing, all compered magnificently by Robert

Games chieftain Alex Webster officially opened the proceedings as the packed programme of events got under way with local competitors fighting off strong competition from those from Aberdeenshire, Fife, the Borders, the Highlands, and all parts in-between.

There was a truly international flavour to the day, demonstrated by the visitors’ races which saw runners from America, Brazil and Canada, to name but a few. Another star attraction was the might of the Tug-O-War competition with Moffat Builders emerging victorious over second placed Mount Blair with the Strathardle and Elgin teams finishing in third and fourth place respectively.
