ONE of the last tasks Angus Provost Ruth Leslie Melville enjoyed as her term of office came to an end last week was to welcome Canadian visitors to her office.

And a presentation made by a Canadian couple further strengthened the links between two Forfars.

It was back in 2009 that local man Bruce Dorward paid a visit to Ontario, where he was able to visit the name-sake community of his home town in the area of Rudeau Lakes.

Mr Dorward took with him an Angus Council plaque and a messageof goodwill from Provost Ruth Leslie Melville, which he was able to present to the mayor of Rideau Lakes, after being introduced to him by Canadian couple Douglas and Peggy Bond.

Last week, the Bonds stopped off in Forfar on a European tour to hand over a framed letter and township plaque from Mayor Ronald Holman.
