AN ANGUS community group presented its latest fund raising achievement to the Maggie’s Centre in Dundee on Monday.
The Forfar Community Learning Development’s Silver Youth Achievement Group recently held a sponsored stay awake challenge which raised a total of £439 for the charity.
Young members of the group were involved in planning, organising and running the fund-raiser event which was one of their challenges towards the award.
Valerie Busher went along to Forfar Academy community wing to be presented with the cheque by members of the group Cara Black, Kara Duncan, Sian Craigon, Elaina Stewart, Lisa Norrie, Holly Aiton and Jodie Duncan, supported by Jennifer Anderson and Grant Tait of the community learning development service.
The Maggie’s Centre, located alongside Ninewells Hospital, provides support to people suffering from cancer and also offers support to their families.
Maggie’s Centres are for anyone affected by cancer. From just being diagnosed or undergoing treatment. The service is free and open to all and there is no need for a referral.
