NEW security gates have been installed at Forfar Academy, at a cost of £18,000
Visitors to the school have noticed padlocked gates which surround the school playing fields, with the grassed area at the rear of the building fenced off.
The area leading down to the playing fields beside the staff car park at the front of the building has also been fenced off, with padlocks securing the site out-with school hours.
A spokesperson for Angus Council said: “The newly installed gates at Forfar Academy are part of the continuing security policy covering all our schools, where gates are used to prevent unauthorised access to areas of the school campus.
“There is an open side where those with business at the school can access the reception areas.
“Arrangements are in place for football teams and other groups with lets to have access at the appropriate times.”
