Three migrant worker roadshows have taken place throughout the Angus area as part of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service’s summer seasonal thematic action plan.

The roadshows are joint community safety events run by Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, Angus Council, Police Scotland, NHS Tayside, Angus Alcohol & Drug Partnership and Gangmasters Licensing Authority in conjunction with the local farming community.

They provide safety advice to migrant workers employed on local farms on fire safety, electrical safety and personal safety within accommodation and also the workplace. The events were run by District Liaison Managers Dave McKenzie and Colin Robb, along with retained duty system (RDS) personnel from Carnoustie, Brechin and Arbroath.

SFRS District Liaison Manager McKenzie said: “The crews spoke with over 200 people and advised workers from Bulgaria, Latvia, Poland and Romania. These events are arranged through the Angus Migrant Worker Working Group which has participation from associated partner agencies.”
