A heartfelt plea for help made by an 11-year-old member of a Forfar girls’ football team has secured the latest £250 sponsorship cheque from the Forfar Roof Truss Company.
Rebekah Whyte took it upon herself to write to the Forfar Dispatch and Kirriemuir Herald - which runs the award in conjunction with Forfar Roof Truss - and her applications caught the eye of the judges.
In it Rebekah wrote: “The Forfar Farmington Dynamos need your help!
“We are in desperate need of home kits. You did a recent feature on us as we helped organise a coffee afternoon with all our parents.
“We raised funds for us and for Macmillan cancer. My two friends team mates’ mums both have cancer. The money we raised has been spent on new training gear.
“Our parents have tried to get a sponsor for the rest of the gear we need but we haven’t found anyone. Can you please help us?”
Rebekah’s proud mum Debbie added: “We organised a coffee morning to raise money for our team and Mamillan cancer. Our half has been used to buy training gear for the girls but we still need other kit.
“We have all tried to find a sponsor but we just haven’t been successful.”
