The supremely talented youngsters of the Rising Youngstars are already rehearsing hard for their pantomime of Cinderella.
Last January, 50 young performers, all under the age of 16, thrilled audiences with their version of Aladdin and this year they are hoping for the same great success.
Rising Youngstars is a community group run by a committee of volunteers aimed at encouraging children in the Forfar and Kirriemuir area to become involved in musical theatre productions.
Fiona Retalic, founder of the group, said: “Our cast members, who range from five to 16 years old, have been rehearsing since the start of September and are all showing true star quality.
“The song and dance numbers are fabulous – during rehearsals, it’s often hard to believe there are no adult cast members on the stage.
“Cinderella is shaping up to be yet another fabulous, fun-packed production by Rising Youngstars and we’d love as many people as possible to come along and support these talented and enthusiastic young performers – and find out just why our shows always receive such excellent reviews from everyone, of all ages, who sees them.”
The principal parts in Cinderella are played by Amy Baigrie (Cinderella), Lorcan Dyer (Ugly Sister One), Callum Gibb (Baron), Tasmin Glass (Stepmother), James Keenan (Ugly Sister Two), Abbie McLaren (Prince), Lucy Scarlett (Fairy Godmother), Penny Stephens (Buttons) and Eilidh Watt (Dandini).
Fiona added: “Several of these young performers have been part of Rising Youngstars since we began putting on shows over ten years ago and it is wonderful to see them now taking on principal roles.
“They clearly love being on stage – as do all our fabulous cast members. Who needs to watch X-Factor when you can see the stars of tomorrow on stage at your local theatre?”
