A KIRRIEMUIR Councillor has expressed sadness that a local group caring for the elderly is about to close.
Councillor Ian Mackintosh is hoping that some solution can be found to prevent Age Concern Kirriemuir from folding. The group currently rents premises in High Street, Kirriemuir, and Councillor Mackintosh explained that the local authority was more than happy to look at a rent review to see if that would help in the short term.
“There is a need for such a facility in Kirriemuir and it will be sadly missed if it closes altogether,” he commented.
“Officials have been in discussion with Age Concern committee members for some six months now, and hopefully some sensible solution can be found.”
“If we can solve the rent issue it may buy the organisation some time to look at other sources of funding.”
